The Questions Beneath the Questions

When people come to me for readings, they often arrive carrying questions.

Sometimes heavy, sometimes desperate, sometimes so specific that they’ve already decided what answer they want. But not all questions are created equal.

Some aren’t truly helpful, at least not in the way they’re being asked.

That’s because a reading is not just about predicting the future.

It’s about uncovering patterns, truths, and insights that can guide you forward.

If you’re only looking for reassurance, or to be told what you already want to hear, you may walk away with more confusion than clarity.

This is why I encourage people to ask themselves these deeper questions first:

  • What are you really looking for?

Sometimes the “question” is a mask for a deeper need, love, safety, hope, direction. Knowing that changes everything.

  • Why does it matter?

This helps you see whether the question is about validation, fear, or genuine curiosity.

  • What are you trying to control? What are you afraid of?

These get to the heart of resistance and where you may be fighting against life’s flow.

  • What kind of external validation are you seeking?

If you need someone else to tell you what you already know, then the real work is in learning to trust yourself.

  • What truth are you unwilling to admit to yourself?

Often, we already sense the answer but avoid it because it feels uncomfortable.

  • What role do you play in the situation? What are you accountable for?

This brings power back into your hands — no more waiting on others to change.

  • What if you’re wrong, or missing something?

Staying open allows space for unexpected wisdom to come through.

These aren’t meant to discourage you from seeking guidance.

Instead, they help you refine your focus.

When you sit with these questions, your reading becomes a mirror, reflecting not just possibilities, but your own role in creating them.

Because the truth is: answers are only as useful as the questions that call them forth.

If you want clarity, ask deeper.

If you want change, start with honesty.

If you want guidance, prepare yourself to see not just what you hope for, but what you need.

That’s where the real magic happens.
